ABOUT SOPHIA
Hello, my name is Sophia Lindstrom. I'm located in Bellingham, Washington. Currently my fourth year at Western Washington University, I currently an art student, pursuing my BA in painting and art history.
My work focuses on visual thoughts; I have thought out the day. This includes the daily thoughts about human connection, reactions to death, and the natural world we are connected to.
My style of making art has been going through a transformation, of the mediums I choose to use too and the mediums, I'm creating. I'm traditionally more of a painter, that uses mix media elements to create various narratives. I'm leaning into making a more graphic, detailed but simple approach to make the greatest impact on the thoughts I have in every day.
The current work explores ideas of changed memory, especially due to covid. In recent times, I feel like the way I interact with society has been affecting the way I am looking at the past. Since covid has started, I have been looking into the recent past (1970-2000) a lot more than normal. Especially on told memories that I wasn’t even there for. I have drawn on top of found photographs, to place my thoughts and my reaction. Then I take these changed imagines and paint them. The photographs are of people I don’t know, I want to react to situations while keeping them anonymous. Looking at these images strikes me in the way life used to be, with the type of gathering, lack of face covering, and situations these photos take us back to. Reflecting on my new worldview has been affecting my views of the past.
is website has the goal to show off my work in my professional light. I hope you enjoy!
